The Quilting Club

TUESDAY

9:00 - 2:00 (ish)

Fellowship Hall

The Quilting Club is open to the public for those who love quilting and fellowship.

The original quilters began in the 1940's in their homes.  As it grew, they decided to quilt for the public the quilting club was formed.  In 1942 they moved to the new basement at the First United Methodist Church in Springtown.  They met once a week and brought a covered dish which was shared. This idea evolved into a public dinner they could sell once a month to accommodate the husband and local businessmen.  It got so popular that people from all over the county came to eat these fabulous meals.  This tradition ended in 1983.  The meals stopped but not the quilting.

We are a much smaller group than in the past, but this wonderful tradition has been passed down from generation to generation.  Today these quilts are offered at the live auction at Lord's Acre.

So join us every Tuesday as we work on quilts for the Lord's Acre.  You are welcome to bring your own lunch, or pick something up in town. Except on the 3rd Tuesday of the month, we host a pot luck lunch.  If you would like to quilt with us or simply stop in to visit, we would love to see you.
